We currently employ one Director(Level 2 NS Early Childhood Classification) and one Admin/Consultant (Level 2 NS Early Childhood Classification). Our director and consultant assist Care Providers in opening and maintaining quality in-home child care environments by offering ongoing support, training and resources from our extensive lending library inventory.
Our Care Providers are carefully screened at the time of approval. We look for self directed, dedicated people who possess initiative and are kind and nurturing to all children. They must complete a Vulnerable Sector Check, a NS Child Abuse Registry Check and Level C Emergency First Aid every 3 years. In addition, they are required to obtain at least 10 hours of professional development training each year.
Our homes are monitored at least once every 30 days during scheduled visits and periodically unannounced visits. At the time of approval, a detailed checklist is completed. This checklist covers a number of health and safety items and government requirements. Annual inspections using a NS Department of Education and Early Childhood Development checklist are also carried out. A Licensing Officer from this department inspects a minimum of 25% of homes annually. Homes are always expected to be clean, safe and welcoming environments.
